Erie starter Pol Brennan put a stranglehold on the Mentor offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Commodores to a 4-1 win. The Commodores now have a record of 58-74 with the win over Mentor.

Eugenio Romero had a big run-scoring double for the Commodores in the bottom of the third inning. With Erie leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Gus Dorner and swatted a double to right. It was his 41st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Commodores ahead, 2-0.

Erie manager Chris Lehmann attributed the win to "a little bit of this and a little bit of that."
