Esquivel Too Much for Alfereces in 2-0 Lares Win
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Parquecito de Lares.

The Lares Gritantes picked up a win at Parquecito de Lares, topping the Mayaguez Alfereces, 2-0. On the mound for Lares was right-hander Adolfo Esquivel. He played a principal role in the triumph. The Gritantes now own a record of 28-30.

The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old Esquivel. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Gritantes. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Alfereces, striking out 9 and scattering 3 hits over 7.1 innings. Esquivel is now 5-2 on the season.

"I got in a good groove," said Esquivel. "I was getting some swings and misses."
