Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Ponce Hidalgos and Hormigueros Companeros.

The Ponce Hidalgos did just enough to sneak past the Hormigueros Companeros, 5-4, at Parquecito de Hormigueros. Ponce pitcher Jorge Lozano, in particular, had a standout performance. The Hidalgos sit in 9th place in the Liga Mariana Bracetti División Lola Rodríguez de Tió with a record of 27-33.

Diego Merlin went 3 for 4 with 3 singles for Ponce. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Merlin had a clutch at-bat. Facing Hormigueros hurler Felipe Custodio, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Hidalgos a 5-4 lead.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Merlin said.
