The Rio Grande Zarzas defeated the Naguabo Malditos, 4-3, at Parquecito de Río Grande. Leading the charge for Rio Grande was right fielder Vic Cope. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Humberto Figueroa picked up the win with 9 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 15 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 9-5. The second-place Zarzas have won 10 in a row.

Had Cope not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Cope hit a run-scoring single. The Zarzas took the lead, 4-3, and never looked back.

"When you're winning, you walk a little taller," said Zarzas manager Ed Somerville.
