Orozco Blanks Vega Alta, 3-0
|
The Vega Alta Lirios manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Manati Hoplitas. The Lirios were overpowered by Manati starter Mario Orozco, who hurled his club to victory, 3-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Alarico Mendoza said.
Over 9 innings, Orozco blanked Vega Alta on 5 hits with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Orozco said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
So far in 16 appearances this season, Orozco has recorded 4 wins and sustained 4 losses. He has pitched 91.1 innings, yielded 87 hits, fanned 47 and has a 3.35 ERA.
