Late Rally Earns Rio Grande 2-1 Win
In a low-scoring tilt between the Rio Grande Zarzas and the Gurabo Escaleras, Petronio Luna, who is tied for 4th in the LJP in quality starts with 15, was the difference-maker. The Rio Grande left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Luna, who is tied for 8th in the LJP in innings pitched with 178.0, went the distance for Rio Grande. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. At 48-27, the Zarzas are currently second in the Liga José Padilla División Rosendo Matienzo Cintrón.

Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 19-year old shortstop Felipe Rivera had a real shot to win the game. Gurabo pitcher Onesíforo Calderón was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Rivera hit a run-scoring single. The Zarzas had a walk-off triumph.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Zarzas manager Ed Somerville, "I like our chances."
