The Culebra Careyes picked up a win at Parquecito de Culebra, knocking off the Gurabo Escaleras, 3-0. Starting pitcher Vicente Castro was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Castro, now 9-1. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 6. Phil Trowsdale, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.

Culebra went up, 1-0, on Balbino Elías's 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Elías hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Gurabo pitcher Felipe Valadez feeling irked.

"Vicente was throwing strikes, locating well," said Culebra manager Mateo Pereira.

The 5th-place Escaleras dropped to 43-37.
