Though he had a stellar game, Lucas Jose could not prevent his team, the Salinas Olimpicos, from losing, 9-6, to the Yabucoa Pastelillos. Jose went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Orestes Guerrero was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 6 runs on 10 hits, with 7 walks and 3 strikeouts. The 8th-place Pastelillos now have a win-loss record of 40-42.
A critical at-bat came in the top of the eighth inning when the Pastelillos sent 22-year-old left fielder Casimiro Herrera to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a 2-run single, to put Yabucoa on top, 9-6.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Pastelillos manager Carlos Robledo. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
