Soggy conditions did not keep Carolina and Vieques from playing their scheduled game.
The Vieques Zumbadorcitos had to reckon with Carolina Belicosos hurler Próspero López. López, who is tied for 5th in the LJP in complete games with 19, overwhelmed the opposition in the 6-1 Belicosos triumph. López, now 7-14, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run.
Carolina used the clutch hitting of Adrián García to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Belicosos the lead, 5-1. For the game, García had 2 singles and 1 double in 3 at-bats.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Vieques manager Ricardo Santiago. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
The 12th-place Belicosos own a record of 26-60.
