The Arroyo Conmutadores finished things off in style.
The Guayama Aprendices got a superb performance from pitcher Santiago Malfabón, but the Arroyo Conmutadores still won the game, 4-3. Malfabón threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The Conmutadores, at 49-38, sit in third place in the Liga José Padilla División Carmen Bozello y Guzmán.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Arroyo trailing 3-2, José González hit a changeup from Santiago Malfabón to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Conmutadores had a walk-off win.
In comments to the Arroyo Herald, González admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
