The Hatillo Tritones and Lares Gritantes put on quite a show.
The Hatillo Tritones faced a tough opponent in Lares pitcher Ladislao Utset, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Parquecito de Lares by a final score of 5-3 in 11 innings. Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Akira Uchiyama? The 20-year old second baseman Uchiyama stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put Hatillo up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Luis Chávez told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
