Lirios Handle Florida, Snag 6-4 Win
|
The Vega Alta Lirios defeated the Florida Estribaciones, 6-4, at Parquecito de Vega Alta. Vega Alta right fielder Tad Nickisson had a superb performance. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Paul Byrne went 5.2 innings for Vega Alta to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with no runs. He scattered 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. His record improves to 8-5. Osman Ortiz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 2 save opportunities.
Vega Alta took a 3-0 lead on Nickisson's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Euritión López in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Vega Alta to the win.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Lirios," said Nickisson.
Vega Alta currently is in 11th place in the Liga Mariana Bracetti División Arturo Schomburg at 37-56.
