Timoneles Beat Sultanes, 3-1, at Campo Capitolino

Puerto La Cruz and Caracas took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Puerto La Cruz Timoneles picked up a win at Campo Capitolino, courtesy of Florentino Cruz. The right-hander helped his team stop the Caracas Sultanes, 3-1. Cruz yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 6-2.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Telmo Carrascalo? The Puerto La Cruz first baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Timoneles on top, 2-1. For the game, Carrascalo had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Florentino is good at sticking to his strengths," said Puerto La Cruz manager Egidio Martínez.
At 22-13, the Timoneles find themselves in second place in the Liga Este.
