In a low-scoring affair between the Merida Caballeros and the Valencia Industriales, pitcher Quilvio González was the difference between victory and defeat. The Merida right-hander earned kudos in the 2-1 Caballeros win. With the win, Merida has a record of 18-17. Valencia falls to 17-19.

Had Muño Nájera not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Nájera hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Caballeros.

"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Nájera.
