Penn German did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to spare the Caracas Sultanes an extra-inning, 7-6 loss to the Maturin Petroleros at Campo de los Petroleros. German went 4-6 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI. Maturin reliever Adán Ávalos got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Víctor Hugo García was tagged with the loss. The loss makes Caracas 5-3.

In the bottom of the 12th, Divino Pérez delivered the big blow for Maturin, stroking a game-winning run-scoring single off Caracas pitcher Víctor Hugo García.

"We just never give in," said Pérez. "We think we've got an opportunity as long as we have an at-bat and some outs left."
