Sultanes fans were sent into a frenzy with a walk-off win.
The Caracas Sultanes, despite a fine performance by Puerto La Cruz pitcher Florentino Cruz, grabbed a 3-2 win at Campo Capitolino. Cruz allowed 2 runs over 6.2 innings. Justo Parra picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Ramón Salas suffered the loss.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Timoneles allowed the Sultanes to score the winning run.
"The crowd went nuts," Merino said.
Caracas is now 16-26, while Puerto La Cruz is 29-15.
