Though the conditions were not ideal, the Caracas Sultanes and Nueva Esparta Cunaguaros came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The Caracas Sultanes topped the Nueva Esparta Cunaguaros, 9-2, in Liga Este action at Estadio de Nueva Esparta. The game was highlighted by the performance of Caracas pitcher Eduardo Aguirre. Aguirre got the win, improving to 4-7. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 5 innings. He allowed 2 runs.

With Caracas leading 5-2 in the top of the sixth, Curcio Saenz hit a 2-run single off Nueva Esparta pitcher Reece Heath. It put the Sultanes ahead 7-2.

"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Nicolás Vásquez.

At 23-37, the Sultanes claim last place in the Liga Este.
