The Barinas Viajeros managed to get by the Maracaibo Independientes, 2-1, at Campo de Barinas. Barinas pitcher Euan Sharp set himself apart with his performance. Javier Rodríguez got credit for the save for Barinas. It was his 5th of the year. The Viajeros are now 31-34.

Flavio Rojas had a big run-scoring double for the Viajeros in the bottom of the first inning. With Barinas leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Iapeto Martínez, who is tied for 4th in the LO in wins with 8, and swatted a double to right. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Viajeros ahead, 2-0.

"Tough loss," said Maracaibo manager Baldomero Neave. "Tough one to swallow."
