The exploits of third baseman Lienhart Schaecter, who leads the LO in total bases with 88, helped the Maracaibo Independientes defeat the Merida Caballeros, 6-1. Schaecter went 4-4 with a triple, 2 doubles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. With the win, Maracaibo pushed its record to 23-20.

The Independientes got a big at-bat from pitcher Práxedes Vega. For the game, Vega threw 9.0 innings allowing 1 run. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Maracaibo a 2-1 lead.

"We did the things that it takes to win a game," said Schaecter.
