Soggy conditions did not keep Coro and Maracaibo from playing their scheduled game.

The Coro Bizantinos beat the Maracaibo Independientes, 6-4. Coro pitcher and Holguín, Cuba, native Fernando Mascorro led the way. Mascorro, now 11-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs.

Martín García, who finished 2nd in the LO in OPS with .820 in 1907, helped out the Coro cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring triple. For the game, the left fielder was 2 for 3 with a triple.

"It all comes down to competing and our guys love to compete," said Bizantinos manager Pablo Moreno.

The 'W' lifts Coro's record to 40-43.
