Soggy conditions did not keep Barinas and Maracay from playing their scheduled game.

Despite a fine performance by catcher Jesús Rodríguez, the Maracay Jardineros lost to the Barinas Viajeros, 7-5. Rodríguez was 2-4 with a triple, while adding 3 RBI. Barinas pitcher Nicolás Fernández got the win. He's now 1-0. Reginaldo Alonso was tagged with the loss. Javier Rodríguez picked up the save, his 13th.

Barinas used a timely hit from Bradley Beattie to get the win. The shortstop stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Viajeros ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

"Good to pick up this win," Beattie said.

After today's action, Barinas sits at 55-57; Maracay slips to 53-58.
