The skies opened up and the rain fell at Halbkugeln-Stadion.
The Magdeburg Halbkugeln racked up a win at Halbkugeln-Stadion, bumping off the Verona Neoterici, 3-2. Hewitt Steinman, who started for Magdeburg, pitched effectively for his team. The winning pitcher was Steinman, now 8-3. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Manfried Diffenderffer collected his 4th save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Halbkugeln had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when first baseman Ulrich Wolf hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Pieroantonio Cardia and made the score 3-0, Halbkugeln. Wolf went 2 for 4 with a double.
"All in all, I thought Hewitt pitched a fine game for us tonight," said Magdeburg manager Erasmo Almodovar.
Magdeburg, now 24-20, holds down third place in the Allgemeine Teilung.
