Wunderkinder Beaten by Mascherati, 4-2

Not everyone stuck through the 23-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
The Venezia Mascherati knocked off the Salzburg Wunderkinder, 4-2, in Ostlicher Kreis action at Campo di Carnavale. Venezia pitcher and Milan, Italy, native Renzo Manin had an outstanding performance. Manin got the win, improving to 8-14. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Gilbert Daniele notched his 1st save of the season.
In the bottom of the sixth, Venezia left fielder Carmelo Cota put his team on top. With two out and the bases loaded, he hit his 8th double of the year. Salzburg pitcher Armin Grün served it up. Just like that, the Mascherati were ahead, 4-2.
"Whenever I help the team," said Manin, "I feel like I earned my paycheck."
The Mascherati saw their win-loss record go to 45-46. At the same time, the Wunderkinder fell to 43-50.
