Both teams had their chances, but the Verona Neoterici eventually prevailed.

The Verona Neoterici picked up a win at Stadio Catullo, topping the Stuttgart Vergaser, 4-3. On the mound for Verona was right-hander Pieroantonio Cardia. He played a principal role in the triumph. Verona pitcher Raimondo Scimeca got the win. He's now 3-2. Redmond Meyer was tagged with the loss.

Verona took a 4-1 lead on Roberto Sanguinetti's 8th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Sanguinetti hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Stuttgart pitcher Redmond Meyer visibly frustrated.

"Pieroantonio just settled in and did what he does," said Verona manager Eduardo Rivera.

The first-place Neoterici sport a record of 60-33.
