Takasaki got a first-rate effort from pitcher Tsunemori Sugimoto, who frustrated Sabae hitters en route to a 2-1 Sakura triumph at Sakura Park. In 9 innings, Sugimoto surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. With the win, Takasaki raised its record to 29-26.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 1-1, 27-year old center fielder Takahiko Ochi won it for Takasaki. With a runner on 3rd, Ochi hit a 2-2 splitter from Hikaru Hyuga for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.

"Tsunemori kept his poise and got the job done," said Takasaki manager Alejandro Rodríguez. "He was outstanding."
