The Coro Bizantinos knocked off the Valencia Industriales, 7-3, in Liga Oeste action at Campo de Valencia. Coro pitcher and Holguín, Cuba, native Fernando Mascorro had an outstanding performance. The winner was Mascorro. He threw 7.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Baltasar Flores. Ramón Valentín earned the save, his 1st, for the Bizantinos.
Adrián Nevárez, the Coro catcher, contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to make the score 4-1, Bizantinos. For the game, Nevárez was 1 for 3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
Nevárez said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
