The first-place Maracaibo Independientes took on the Barquisimeto Crepusculares in front of a spirited crowd.

Iapeto Martínez, who is tied for 2nd in the LO in complete games with 19, was terrific for the Maracaibo Independientes in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Barquisimeto Crepusculares. His performance earned Martínez rave reviews. With the win over Barquisimeto, the Independientes improved to 62-44.

Martínez was the winner. He's now 13-10, after putting the Barquisimeto offense in a vise grip. Over 9 innings, he gave up 1 run on 4 hits, while racking up 5 Ks.

After the game, Martínez told the Maracaibo News, "Like I've always said, the challenge is what makes this game worth playing."
