The umbrellas came out during the Caracas-Cumana contest at Campo Capitolino.

Luis Martínez, who finished 3rd in the LE in wins with 18 in 1912, was locked in. The right-hander led the Caracas Sultanes to a 5-4 win against the Cumana Atunes at Campo Capitolino. Martínez yielded 4 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 11 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 8-16.

The Sultanes got a big at-bat from right fielder Curcio Saenz. For the game, Saenz was 1 for 5 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 17th double of the season gave Caracas a 4-3 lead.

"It was a good effort all around," said Saenz.

Caracas now sports a record of 44-67.
