The game between Seki and Nagasaki is in the books, despite a little rain.
Nick Maddox, who leads the SL in innings pitched with 284.2, pitched well, but the Nagasaki Kamo still fell short, losing, 4-3, to the Seki Katanakaji at Katanakaji Stadium. Seki pitcher Hideki Uemura earned the win, hiking his record to 2-2. Nick Maddox suffered the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Masaharu Date came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Nagasaki pitcher Nick Maddox, he hit a 0-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Seki on top, 4-3.
Date told a Seki Gazette reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
Seki, at 64-56, occupies third place in the Southern League.
