Sakura Get Clutch Win Versus Fukushima
|
The Takasaki Sakura got a rain-soaked win over the Fukushima Kamome.
Takasaki picked up a win at Sakura Park, bumping off the Fukushima Kamome, 2-1. Pitcher Tsunemori Sugimoto was a major reason the Sakura emerged victorious. Sugimoto, now 13-19, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Yoshiyau Fuse came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Fukushima pitcher Tadayuki Kato, he hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Takasaki on top, 2-1.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Takasaki skipper Alejandro Rodríguez. "I can't complain."
Takasaki bumps their record to 57-68 with the win.
