The umbrellas came out during the Guatire-Maturin contest at Estadio de Guatire.
Guatire third baseman Juan Fernández made his presence felt in the 9-6 Heroes triumph over the Maturin Petroleros. Fernández went 2-4 with a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Picking up the win was Gamaliel Pacheco. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 6 runs on 11 hits. The right--hander struck out 0 and walked 2.
Fernández had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the bottom of the third inning, when he hit a run-scoring single. The Heroes went on to win.
"At the end of the day, wins and losses are really the only thing that matters," said Fernández.
Guatire is now 56-54, Maturin 55-57.
