Sultanes Lose 4-2 Decision to Maturin
Despite the rain, the fans at Campo de los Petroleros enjoyed a good ballgame.

The Maturin Petroleros topped the Caracas Sultanes, 4-2, in Liga Este action at Campo de los Petroleros. The game was highlighted by the performance of Maturin pitcher Rodulfo Moquete. The 4th-place Petroleros now have a win-loss record of 62-57.

Manuel Álvarez came through for Maturin when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a two-strike curveball to center field, staking his team to a 3-2 lead.

"When you put in the effort and you get really focused, the results come in ways you're not even expecting," said Petroleros manager Calixto Morales.
