The Valencia Industriales picked up a win at Campo de Barinas, knocking off the Barinas Viajeros, 6-3. Starting pitcher Ruy Máez played a key role in the triumph. Valencia is in last place in the Liga Oeste with a record of 49-75.

Valencia used the timely hitting of Orlando Sosa to capture the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Industriales on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Valencia manager José Pacheco.
