Merida picked up a win at Caballeros Ballpark, bumping off the Coro Bizantinos, 6-4. Pitcher Esteban Rivera was a major reason the Caballeros emerged victorious. The 4th-place Caballeros improved to 45-39.
Had Demetrio Aguio not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Aguio hit a 2-run double. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Caballeros.
"When there are games to be won, you win them," said Merida manager Plinio Cardona.
