Maturin shortstop Édgar Flores helped his team beat the Nueva Esparta Cunaguaros, 12-3. Flores, who finished 5th in the LE in runs with 60 in 1906, went 4 for 6 for the Petroleros. The 6th-place Cunaguaros have lost 6 consecutive games.

Aristóbulo Coria, who led the LE in home runs with 1 last year, aided the Maturin cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the catcher went 2-3 with a triple, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Maturin skipper Calixto Morales.
