Vásquez Shuts Out Nueva Esparta
The Nueva Esparta Cunaguaros manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Angostura Amargados. The Cunaguaros were overpowered by Angostura starter Diomedes Vásquez, who hurled his club to victory, 2-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Rafael Leyva said.

Over 9 innings, Vásquez blanked Nueva Esparta on 1 hit with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Vásquez said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

His record for the year is 14-12 in 25 starts and Vásquez has a 3.23 ERA.
