Carboneros Win to Tie Series with Mariachis
The Coahuila Carboneros and the Nayarit Mariachis will take the Serie Preliminar to a decisive 5th game. Facing a must-win situation, the Carboneros shut out the Mariachis, 6-0, at Estadio de Saltillo to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Coahuila left-hander Ben Downie did his part. He threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball.

Downie pitched a complete game for Coahuila. The left-hander was charged with no runs on 8 hits. He struck out 8 during his 139-pitch performance.

"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Downie.

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 27th , 1908 at Parque de los Mariachis in Tepic.
