Calgary Takes League Championship Series
Fidel Paredes paused momentarily when asked what it means to him to be named MVP of the League Championship Series.

"It means we're one step closer to winning the Western & Plains Championship, as they normally don't give this to players on the losing team," he said with a smile. "I do feel fortunate to win the award though, I had a lot of fun out there."

Paredes made his comments only moments after his Calgary Chargers had knocked out the Kamloops Fur Traders to advance to the Western & Plains Championship. Calgary won the final game by a 6-1 count at Chargers Grounds and clinched the series 4-1.

Paredes had a 0.50 ERA over 18 innings pitched, with 9 strikeouts and a 2-0 record.

The Calgary Chargers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Winnipeg Strikers - Steinbach Mennonites series. Winnipeg leads the series 2 games to 1. The Western & Plains Championship schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
