Almost There: Winnipeg On Cusp of LCS Triumph After 5-4 Win
The Winnipeg Strikers moved to within one game of the Western & Plains Championship, downing the visiting Steinbach Mennonites at Winnipeg Grounds by a score of 5-4. Strikers right-hander Jaime Ramírez had a strong outing in which he threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball. The win gives the Strikers a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Neftalí González aided the Winnipeg cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.

"We have been clicking right from the start of this series, so our mission statement at the moment is just don't tinker with anything," Winnipeg manager Eduardo Rubio told reporters.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Winnipeg Grounds in Winnipeg.
