The Coro Bizantinos started the Campeonato de las Ligas in style, downing the visiting Barquisimeto Crepusculares at Estadio de Coro by a score of 6-3 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Bizantinos right fielder Sebastián Gómez was 4 for 4 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs.

Martín García hit a run-scoring triple off Eufemio Moreno in the bottom of the first, which put the Bizantinos in front, 1-0. García had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.

"Every team in baseball loses," Crepusculares manager Ernesto Camarillo said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
