The Lubbock Layabouts picked up a win at Lubbock Grounds, topping the Amarillo Horizons, 6-5. On the mound for Lubbock was right-hander Norio Kawakami. He played a principal role in the triumph. Sotero Meza, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. The Horizons fall to 5-7 and continue their sputtering start to the 1915 season.

The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Lubbock trailing 5-4, Sam Taylor hit a fastball from Britomaro Pérez to right-center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Layabouts had a walk-off win.

"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Taylor. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
