Giants Suffer 6-2 Setback
|
The Washington Senators knocked off the New York Giants, 6-2, in Eastern League action at Polo Grounds 1890-1910. Washington pitcher and Decatur, Illinois, native Steve Stewart had an outstanding performance. In 9 innings, Stewart surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. The last-place Giants have lost 4 straight games.
The Senators got a big at-bat from first baseman Billy Nash. For the game, Nash was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Washington a 1-0 lead.
"Felt great, felt really good," said Stewart.
