Reds Get Dramatic 4-3 Win
Cincinnati went toe-to-toe with Louisville before a winner was decided.

The Reds earned a hard-fought, 4-3 win in 13 innings at League Park II 1894-1901. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Louisville pitcher Clay Marple. Marple went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs. Cincinnati reliever Jim St. Vrain picked up the win to move to 2-0. Jason Gunter suffered the loss.

The Reds got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Danny Murphy. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Reds.

"Nice to be on top of the heap," said Reds manager Marshall Locke.

Cincinnati is first in the Western League with a record of 48-32.
