Colonels Lose as Reds Stage Late Rally
The Cincinnati Reds got a hard-earned win over the Louisville Colonels, 8-7, in 10 innings. Clyde Engle provided some offensive muscle for Cincinnati. He was 4-5 with 4 singles, while scoring 3 times. The win went to James Durham in relief, making him now 5-3. Jake Campbell took the loss for Louisville. Jim St. Vrain recorded the save, his 2nd.

Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Klondike Douglass to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Reds on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Engle.

The defeat makes Louisville 41-44.
