The 4-hit performance of Serapión Chávez, who finished 2nd in the LO in home runs with 1 in 1912, helped the Merida Caballeros beat the Barquisimeto Crepusculares, 12-1. The win gives Merida a record of 2-1.

With Merida leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Chávez hit a changeup from Evaristo Adauto for a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Caballeros ahead, 3-0.

"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Merida skipper Antoine Fontaine.
