Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Barquisimeto Crepusculares were eager to watch Mateus Balieiro square off against Humberto Camarillo of the visiting Merida Caballeros. In the end, the Crepusculares won the game, 4-2, with Mateus Balieiro leading the way.

Barquisimeto first baseman Marcos Frías contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 2nd hit of the season and put the Crepusculares ahead, 3-2.

"We didn't get the results we wanted," said losing manager Antoine Fontaine. "But we'll come back and try and get the next ballgame."
