Tabacaleros Get Clutch Win, 6-5
|
The Trinidad Tabacaleros outlasted the Manzanillo Martenos, 6-5, in 10 innings. Jorge Lacayo provided some punch at the plate for Trinidad. He went 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The winner was Trinidad reliever Jan Pajkos, now 2-0. The loser was Víctor Rivera. The loss lowers the Manzanillo record to 2-1.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Trinidad. That's when Zenón Aguirre, who led the TOCC in on-base percentage with .395 in 1904, hit a run-scoring double off Víctor Rivera to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"No one player deserves all the credit when you win," Lacayo said. "And the same is true when you lose."
