Federico Celaya, who finished 3rd in the TORI in innings pitched with 261.1 in 1913, never let the Soneros get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his changeup, to pitch the Cocoteros to a win, 5-1. Ulises Ramírez earned his 1st save, after closing out the game. Guantanamo goes to 2-1.
The Cocoteros got a big at-bat from center fielder Hermógenes Valle. For the game, Valle was 1 for 4 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Guantanamo a 3-1 lead.
"I tried to establish all my pitches early," said Celaya.
