The game between Santiago de Cuba and Trinidad is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Santiago de Cuba Soneros downed the Trinidad Tabacaleros, 3-1, at Campo de los Tabacaleros. Stellar pitching by Radamés Cortez had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Rómulo Rodríguez nailed down the save.
One critical moment came in the bottom of the ninth, when Santiago de Cuba bent under pressure but did not break. The score was 3-1, Santiago de Cuba, with two out. Trinidad had the bases loaded. But Jorge Lacayo couldn't get the clutch base hit. Instead, on a 0-1 fastball, he popped out.
The Tabacaleros fall to 4-8 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1915 season.
