Santa Clara Tacks 6-3 Loss on San Antonio de los Banos
|
The Santa Clara Leopardos defeated the San Antonio de los Banos Comediantes, 6-3, in Torneo Occidental action at Estadio de Santa Clara. Santa Clara pitcher Isma'il Farraj had a standout performance. Jack Katoll, who led the TORI in strikeouts with 213 in 1911, nailed down the save. With their winning streak at 5, the Leopardos have raced to a strong start this season.
The Leopardos got a big hit from center fielder Andreas Johnson. Facing San Antonio de los Banos pitcher Zacarías Pérez in the bottom of the sixth, Johnson pounded a bases-clearing double to left-center. His 4th double of the season put the Leopardos ahead, 5-1.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Johnson. "It sure beats the alternative."
